In Labor of Unconditional Love, Fatai openly talks about her experience growing up as a 1st generation American Tongan as she has first-hand experience of the sacrifices and unconditional love made by her parents to strive for the American dream. She relates her childhood experience and traumas she had to that of the foster kids her family currently care for by understanding that the true labor of unconditional love is only found when you can see beyond the behavior to the need of the child.
She also openly shares the process her family went through to becoming a foster family, the traumatic reminders that would take place with the foster kids, and how rough moments were handled.
This book teaches you how to:
- Gain awareness and mindfulness of your parenting style.
- Use your childhood upbringing as a way to impact and connect with foster youth and people in general.
- Effectively communicate unconditional love by healing from past trauma and understanding traumatic reminders.
- Strategize different ways of practicing self-love to avoid burnout.
- Create an environment that motivates and inspires you to always embrace change.
“Labor of Unconditional Love” will help you unpack past trauma to strengthen your relationships with your loved ones, motivate you to never settle and become the best version of you.
